I started drawing at the early age of 10. Later when starting High School at 13, I enrolled in Saturday Art classes at the New York Phoenix Art School. That same year the school offered me a one month scholarship of summer Art classes and I continued at Curtis High School until 1950. returning to the Phoenix Art School for one year, then in 1951 I enlisted in the Navy and served four years in the Korean War at Air Transport Squadron VR22 in Norfolk, Virginia.
